Look forward to a fun action packed weekend at the river. This is a 2-day ACA Swift-Water Rescue course is a hands-on, scenario-based river rescue training designed specifically for whitewater boaters: kayakers, rafters, SUP paddlers, and canoers. 

Who’s this course ideal for ?

For those interested in being prepared to handle a self-rescues, team-rescues, and paddle-craft rescues. Private Kayakers, SUP riders, Canoers & Rafters find this course very useful on expeditions, whitewater outings and family oriented floats.  This course is also very valuable for anyone leading group trips for their organizations, such as Boy Scout Troops, Girl Scouts, Canoe-raft-kayak Rental outfitters, Community and business related floats.  

Skills taught:

Rescue philosophy, Whitewater swimming techniques, Wading in moving water, How to deal with Strainers, Throw ropes, Boat based Rescues, Live Bait rescues, Contact Rescues, Mechanical Advantages, Unpin methods, Knots, Rescue vest & Much more.

All our Instructors are certified through the American Canoe Association, trained in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. These Instructors have been through extensive training in the curriculum they’ll be teaching, take advantage of the wealth of knowledge these instructors have to pass on to our community about paddling safety, self rescues and rescuing others in a river or lake environment & sign up for your rescue training today.

What should you expect ?

This is a one day course designed for the everyday recreational paddler. We will be having a very fun & active day learning river rescue techniques in the Illinois river. This course is based around NO MORE VICTIMS method. This course focuses on fast & safe self-rescues while helping others stay safe in a river environment. I would highly recommend this course be first on every paddlers list. This course will also help prepare you for a 2 day swift water course for any whitewater paddlers.

 Anyone that spends time on the river. This course is designed for families, paddle-sport outfitters, paddle clubs, water activities facilitators, paddle craft fishermen, anyone that would like to have more knowledge and hands-on experience with river safety.
